Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
