Disturbing Video Shows Point Officers Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A ranking policeman that leaped to the assistance of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Officer stabbed," the constable was heard to say over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashcam footage shared by the force depicted Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.
He collided with the officer who tripped and fell to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being repeatedly struck with the knife.
PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, bringing the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide help on my throat here, I got knifed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received multiple open wounds to his neck and more injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials stated Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's bleeding before emergency responders came.
This most recent recognition follows subsequent to the trio of policemen won organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional union branch in April 2024.
They further earned a North West Valor Recognition in mid-2024.
"The responses of the entire team ultimately saved each other and meant no civilians endured any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, per authorities.
